Holistic Mind and Body Treatment
As a part of our evaluation, you may speak with our Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who specializes in the management of pain. This does not mean that we think your pain is imaginary or all in your head. What is does mean is that we are aware of the possible impact of chronic pain on your life. Pain that is chronic can affect everything in your life: your ability to work at your job, work around the house and yard, and activities you do for fun.
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker can work with you in different ways:
- Initial Assessment: to assess your pain and how it affects you personally, so a customized pain management approach can be developed for you.
- Psychological Testing: psychological testing, which is required for some procedures, allows the team to get a clearer picture of your strengths and weaknesses and how each can impact your pain experience.
- One-on-one Meetings: individual sessions with the psychologist – available on a regular as-needed basis – allow you to work on the issues that are most important to you.
- Family Sessions: sessions with a spouse, other family members, or friends are designed to help other people in your life to understand your pain, and to help you to communicate more effectively with them.
